Application to join Labour Left

Before membership is granted, we respectfully ask that you submit the following details about yourself. All details will be kept confidentially by the Secretary of Labour Left and also the Regional Chair of the group to which you will belong. We can promise that our membership list is never passed on to an external organisation and will be confined to Labour Left. MEMBERS ONLY FORUM We are currently developing a members only discussion forum connected to the Labour Left website. Once your membership of Labour Left is confirmed, you will be issued with a membership number which you can then use to request access to the Labour Left members only forum. You will be notified by your Regional Chair as soon as the new forum is ready and open for contributions and comment. Your acceptance of access to the members only forum implies your agreement to abide by the Labour Left Code of Conduct below. FACEBOOK GROUPS Members who are Facebook users will be granted access to the Labour Left group which will remain in operation until the new forum is ready. In the meantime, we ask that everyone read and follow the Labour Left Code of Conduct which has been drawn up with the intention of making both the Facebook group and the new forum places where everyone can discuss and debate their views in an open and respectful way. Your acceptance of access to any Labour Left Facebook group implies your agreement to abide by the Labour Left Code of Conduct below. CODE OF CONDUCT 1. Please focus debate on ideas and arguments, and avoid negative personal comments. 2. Please educate yourself about gender bias in debate: be mindful that different individuals are socialised to argue in different ways, and be reflective on the ways in which your own contributions can facilitate or shut down equality in contribution. 3. Do not use language which is homophobic, racist, sexist, transphobic, ageist, or oppressive in any other way. 4. Be mindful that language skills are a form of privilege: where you have used vocabulary or language that another person fails to understand, do not demean that person for their perceived (suggested or otherwise insinuated) lack of intellect. 5. Please respect the privacy of other participants: do not refer to other members personal biographical details where it might cause embarrassment, ridicule or conflict. Do not use personal details or opinions of a fellow member gained herein (this forum) against them in another forum, or walk of life. If your postings are viewed to be in breach of the code of conduct, you may be asked to retract. If a retraction does not occur, forum moderators may remove any comments which do not uphold the spirit of the code.
